When I entered this third floor apartment I was surprised at its size and how bright and cool it was. This is because there are two balconies on opposite sides of the apartment so you can enjoy the welcoming Easterly breeze that blows throughout the year. The terrace accessed from the large living area is where you can sit and dine while overlooking the pool and tropical gardens.
The other smaller terrace is accessed from the large bedroom and overlooks a private drive that you take to reach the main road connecting Puerto Plata and Cabarete and way beyond along the North coast. It takes about ten minutes passing a school, villas, condominium complexes, small shop so you get the chance to meet locals, and visitors as you stroll to the road where opposite is the newest supermarket and other shops and restaurants. Beyond is the town of Sosua with its bars, restaurants, clubs, casinos, banks, shops and four sandy beaches all within easy walking distance. Although, you have a fully fitted kitchen you could join other ex pats in one of the many restaurants serving American style breakfast with a Dominican touch of fresh fruit. Alternatively, you could go for a swim in the swimming pool below, sunbathe to capture the early morning suns rays before returning to sit on your balcony with fresh fruit and Dominican coffee planning that days adventure. Being close to the highway you can be in Cabarete (25 cents) within 25 minutes using inexpensive local transport that pass every ten minutes. There you can sit on the beach watching kite surfers dancing with the waves, or take part yourself or in one of many outdoor activities that Cabarete is famous for.
This apartment you can comfortably live all the year round and it has one other feature that I was not prepared for. It has a 60 sq meter roof terrace with ocean view where you could add a structure to protect you from the sun and create a roof garden that others have done in the neighborhood. The pipes are there and small room to build a toilet and shower and access to water for the plants.
The owner who lives there all the year round when not travelling is moving abroad for family reasons, which is why this large apartment is priced so low.
